Why is Green Mountain Network not in the Yellow Pages?

Green Mountain Network is not in the Yellow Pages "phone book" because telephone directory services like the Yellow Pages do not support Internet based telephones.

Green Mountain Network has been in business since April 2001. Since then, the Yellow Pages telephone directories have refused to list our company in the "phone book" because we do not use traditional "land-line" based telephones. They insist that we need to pay additional fees to be listed whereas companies with traditional land-line based lines do not.

We consider our Internet based telephones as land-line phones because local Police and Fire services know the address where our Internet based phone is located. In our view, if local Police and Fire services know our location based only on our phone number, and we also pay extra money to our Internet phone service provider for a "business line" , then our business phone number should be listed in the phone book without additional cost.

The "Yellow Pages" want to charge us extra money in order to be listed based only on our choice of technology, therefor, we do not support the use of "Yellow Pages" phone directory listing services.
